Sol
I’ve always believed in the power of storytelling, especially when it comes to addressing the gaps in representation. ‘Sol’ is my answer to a lack of authentic representation for Latinos in mainstream media. This project is more than just an artistic endeavor; it’s a testament to the power of representation and cultural identity.
As a Latino, I’ve often felt the absence of characters who truly reflect the diverse experiences within our community. ‘Sol’ began as a simple yet profound idea: to create a character who, like me, faces challenges related to disability. Sol’s journey started with legs that didn’t work, symbolized by an armadillo as his ‘wheelchair.’ However, ‘Sol’ is an ongoing project, and his character has evolved. He now embodies the experience of dyslexia, mirroring my own journey of self-acceptance and personal growth.
The project is dynamic and ever-evolving. There’s much more to come, including the development of characters, props, and backgrounds. This is a journey in progress.
